7 Tips On What to Wear to Your Photoshoot
You’ve booked your photoshoot and now you’re pumped!
But wait, what do I wear?!
Here are some tried and true tips to help you in your closet dilemma!
1. Confident & Comfortable
What do you feel most like yourself in? That’s what you should wear! No need to buy new clothing necessarily for the shoot. However, still be on fleeeeeeekkkk aka steam/press/iron your clothes. And bring them in a garment bag if possible. Wrinkles are not fun!
2. Don’t Match & Clash
If this is a family or team shoot, pick a color scheme (blues & neutrals look great on everyone!) – don’t wear matching clothing. Think of ‘complimenting‘ and not ‘matching.’
3. Bring Options
Your photographer can help you choose if you are going back and forth between your favorites. You can also bring 2 outfits: 1 dressy and 1 more casual. Dressing in layers would be a very quick way to change the look of an outfit without doing a full outfit change.
4. Stylish Yet Timeless
Patterns are okay but stay away from anything too busy. Stylish clothing is always the way to go.
5. Dress toward your environment
If the location is more rustic, perhaps a pair of stylish boots will fit the surroundings well. If the environment is more urban, then perhaps something a little dressier will work.
6. V I B E S
Be mindful of you audience & the vibe you want to communicate. For business professionals in the Bay Area business casual is the way to go. If you’re an artist, funky statement pieces are fun!
7. Mind the details
If there are details about your outfit that mean something special to you, let your photographer know! Janet’s vintage style was noteworthy – we had to photograph all its little buttons and flair!
Finally, take a deep breath. What you wear is only to compliment your personality!
Be relaxed and just be yourself. Have fun!
