Mere Sketches – Branding
My friend Myriam (a fellow explorer and entrepreneur friend of mine – you can see more of her lovely face on my Oxford Exchange post), runs a business which ranges from wedding drapes to handmade table settings to customized baby onesies. When people asked her what she did, she hesitated – not quite sure how to encapsulate the extent of her business. We brainstormed together to rebrand her business.
Here is a look into our process:
She already had the name – Mere Sketches – which is a bit of a play on her name and also conveys a craftiness to it. We knew she would need a square, iconic logo and also a more word, heavy logo. Overall, we needed a tagline that would better describe what she did. Over much laughter, furrowed brows, and omelets, we had an aha moment, “crafting your details“.
It showcased that Mere Sketches were handmade goods and that it could be customized for each client.
She loved it. I loved it.
Mere Sketches now had a clear direction!
With the comps approved, I set to work illustrating.
We finalized on a color palette featuring a welcoming, purple-grey.
But we kept the gold.
Enjoy the shimmer:
