Andrew messaged me a number of weeks ago asking, “Hi Praise! My friend is interested in proposing to his girlfriend, and I told him you may do proposal pictures. Do you do these?” I gladfully told him that I do. We continued messaging each other and through the back and forth I kept thinking to myself, “What a stand-up guy Andrew is, helping his friend plan for such a big day!”

Andrew gave me a call last week and said, “Hey Praise, would January 13 work for you to photograph mine and Janelle’s engagement?”

Haha, this guy knew how to keep a secret, even from me!
He wanted to make this moment special for Janelle.
And he scored a 10 out of 10.

Our cover story was that I just happened to be at the garden rooftop of this hotel and would bump into them. “Janelle, is that you?” Janelle was delighted to see me, buying that I was there by happenstance and had my camera. It was a garden rooftop in downtown San Francisco, why wouldn’t I be taking pictures of this gorgeous city view? I asked them that since they were there, could they do me the favor of modeling for me. “Of course,” Janelle replied, “how lucky we are that we’re out on date night and we get our photos taken by you!”

She was soon to find out how deep this *luck* was.

After those first few shots (much props to J&A for being remarkable models), Andrew was now warmed up. It was time. He started fishing in his back pocket to take out the ring. Janelle was so shocked, she backed up over six feet!

“What! Oh!” she exclaimed.
She began to happy-tear.

This couple has a connection that is incomparable. And a sense of humor that is delightful (they rocked it on Halloween as they dressed up as characters from the Living Dead). I am so pumped as they take this next step. With Janelle’s lively spirit and Andrew’s CIA-worthy slyness, one can only imagine the smile-inducing happenstances that are ahead.
