SOKO Look book Spring/Summer 2016
I’ve had a long-running relationship with Soko an ethical fashion jewelry company & one of my favorite social enterprises. In 2014, I spent two months with them in their Kenyan offices, getting to know the story of the artisans behind the enamoring brass and horn pieces (check out Ojiko and Mulinge’s stories!) and sharing that narrative through photo & video.
So it’s a I-need-to-tell-you-the-full-scoop-over-coffee kind of spiel about ComePlum, but to give you the succinct version: I never had the confidence to launch into this creative venture that I call ComePlum full time until after my time in Kenya. Being around the resilience and work ethic of the small business owners/creatives that I met, both the artisans and the founding ladies of Soko, was contagious and inspiring.
Jump forward two years and I get to collaborate with Soko again, but this time in San Francisco. For their 2016 Spring & Summer line we went for clean, minimal, and delicious summer vibes. By collaborating with the stunnah model/ethical food advocate/Cal student Atha & makeup wizard Kristen of being violet, the Soko team and I made some photoshoot magic. Enjoy some of my favorites in the post below!
