How to Choose Wedding Vendors: 3 Tips On Building A Dream Team
At the end of last year, we told the story of Sam & Todor, a wedding day coordinated by the planning sensei Camille of Dream A Little Dream Events. That day I felt so taken care of as a fellow vendor. She vibed with me when I moved the couple around to embrace the best light! Working with vendors who understand we are one big team gives me l i f e.
This is a testament not only to Camille, but to Sam & Todor for picking out vendors who understood their vision for their at-home wedding (this was the home Sam grew up in! Her architect dad and landscape architect mama knew how to make the most of their Novato property).
I reached out to Camille to have her help me break down why this wedding and us working together clicked so well. We’ve boiled it down to these 3 easy ways to build a wedding vendor dream team.
So you’ve done all the vendor research. You’ve pinned those pins, you’ve followed them on Instagram…now what?
Set up an in-person or video-chat meeting, communicate the vision you have for your wedding day, then go with your gut.
Did you get a good vibe from them?
You’ll be spending 8-12+ hours with these people on your most memorable day.
Make sure you click!
Your wedding vendors have some of the best jobs: they get to witness love on the reg. And they also know the best people to work with on the reg. As they’ve gotten to know you, your vision, and personality, they can match you up with other vendors who not only deliver a good product or service, but who are also enjoyable people to work with. You’re going to want to work with pros who know how to have a good time!
Dream big. If you really love a vendor but they’re out of budget, don’t despair. Still reach out to them. Tell them your situation. Many can customize packages or can refer someone who has a similar style but maybe with less experience who will be more suited to your needs. Don’t make your dream vendor a “no” until you know it’s a no!
You can do it. You can plan a wedding with your dream team of vendors. But most of all, enjoy the process. At the end of the day, if you’re married to your person/boo-thang/soul mate, that’s what really matters. Trust your vendors to sweat the small stuff for you.
